Top Ten Fashion Trends For Spring 2012...

My ten best fashion tips for spring ...

Lets start out with Oh so trendy Preppy Inspired espadrilles... Think plaids, stripes, and nautical navy.
70s glam is back in the form of one piece jumpsuits ! With a smaller shoulder pad, to square off the shoulder line. Think of the days of Disco - "Studio 54, sequins, but add a bit short sleeve to this new souped up version of the jumpsuit.

Do you Crochet? Well it's back... Crochet vests are big this spring, maybe you can look to the back of your closet . maybe you might have a bit of a crochet number lurking.

The color that jumps out at the head of the line for spring is orange! Less face it there is no other color that can make a loud fashion statement as orange. So need a new dress? Make it an orange.

Belt bags are one of the great big trends... However, I am not talking "fanny packs'...Stick to the new small square flat belt bags - so cute, and less weight to carry on that shoulder.

Feet need a rest This spring kitten heels are big... The kitten heel is a good choice this spring. They are feminine, and classic, as well as comfortable.

Creamy neutrals, all done up to give you a very feminine look. Flowing pajama - styles, tunics. All meant to be classical, and again comfortable.

Think whimsical pattrens. From bird prints to deers, fruit, feathers, you name it, tops with whimsical prints are big. You will see everything from blouses to dresses all sporting Whimsical prints.

Stripes - Stripes seem to hold a place in fashion year after year. You can't go wrong wearing stripes, from head to toe...

High-Waisted flare pants are so big this spring... The pant that Katharine Hepburn made so popular, is back... I suggest you pair this style of pants with a great heel, just to give the old look a bit of flare. The new flare pant as a rule have loops for a skinny belt, so you can flash up the look with a flashy thin belt.

How to make old clothes into new fashionable clothes

Feeling creative? Everyone has at least a few terrible shirts or pants in their closet. Use these tips to save money on new clothes, recycle your old ones and reduce your carbon footprint while changing your style:

Steps:

1. Dye clothes to coordinate with your existing wardrobe. Try mixing a few dyes together.

 2. Design a new top.
  • Make a scooped, square or v-shaped neckline at the front of a top with a different neckline at the back.
  • Create an opening at the front or back of a top. Add an interfaced strip of fabric to create a buttoned or laced closure.
  • Cut open a shirt for a vest.

 3. Take an ill fitting shirt that you really like because of a logo.
  • Just frame it.
  • Cut out the logo and apply it to simple basic shirt.

4. Recycle your jeans.
  • Turn old worn-off jeans into stylish shorts or bermudas.
  • Cut them to slightly below the knee, and then roll them up into capris.
  • Turn jeans into a skirt. Cut off the legs over the knee for a miniskirt or under it for a longer skirt. Rip the inner hemming, and glue together with fabric glue or preferably sew together.

 5. Design a new skirt.

Cut off an oversized shirt right underneath the armpit. Fold the top part inward and hem it. You might need to sew it tighter or add elastic band at the top.

  • Create an opening. Add an interfaced strip of fabric to create a buttoned or laced closure.
  • Wear an open skirt over another.
  • Change a gathered skirt to a wrap-around skirt. Add a new waistband and ties.
  • Add lace or a contrasting fabric ruffle along the opening of a skirt.

 6. Gather with casings.

  • Add seam binding to the inside of a side seam or waistline. Insert drawstrings.
  • Add vertical casings to the hemline of a top, skirt or dress.

 7. Design a new dress.

  • Combine various tops and skirts.
  • Combine the fabric of a top onto a skirt and vice versa for a coordinated outfit.

8. Design a new item. Start a new trend.

  • Create a new purse or backpack.
  • Use an old tank-top as a cute handbag by just sewing up the bottom.
  • Design an attractive vest or halter top.
  • Use the bottom of shirts as shrugs.
  • Create a new hairpiece or fabric necklace.

 9. Add details.

  • Add lace or crocheted inserts.
  • Add pockets and patches to different areas.
  • Stencil or embroider fabrics.
  • Add dangling beads, ruffles or feathers to accentuate
